About the Technology
The American Lives Project was built using PHP and MySQL. PHP is web-based programming language that allows us to build dynamic websites by drawing information from a database. Scripts written in PHP, in combination with Javascript, power the functionality of the website. The American Lives Project draws its content from a MySQL database stored on the server. This database contains 67 tables with over 35,000 records. Both PHP and MySQL are open-source and freely available from the links below: PHPMySQL If you have specific questions about the technology of the site, please contact the webmaster at amlives@artsci.wustl.edu Special Note: This prototype was constructed using the latest web technology. Because older browses may not support newer features, we reccommend you use at least Internet Explorer 5.0 or Netscape 6.0 to view this site. |
